We created a tour that gives the most complete experience of North Montenegro and its canyons. When you have already decided to partake in a journey of more than 200 km in one direction, we will give you a good reason why you should do it and not be disappointed. Durmitor National Park and Tara River Canyon have been a part of UNESCO World Heritage since 1980. Every effort to visit pearls of pure nature of Durmitor mountain massif and Tara river makes it worth it. You will have a full feel of dramatic and wild nature, which makes two canyons, Morača canyon (the second deepest canyon in Montenegro) and the famous Tara River Canyon (the deepest canyon in Europe). The culmination of this winding long road ride is the sensational bridge on the river Tara, and then the fascinating mountain massif of Durmitor.
The tour has several highlights, and some of them are very unique like taking the ski lift to the Savin Kuk at 2313 meters altitude. Morning in the canyon of river Morača, early afternoon at the Tara Bridge and Black Lake, and sunset on Durmitor plateau and Komarnica region make the tour full of different experiences. This tour takes 13-15 hours (depending on the departure city), but the memories will last forever. Welcome!
WHEN AND WHERE WILL WE START?
The tour departs from Kotor at 8:00 in the morning, which is the standard time for all our trips. After a maximum of 45 minutes of driving, we will arrive in Budva, where we will pick up guests. We will arrive in Podgorica 60 minutes later, picking up the guests and continuing our journey. If guests take the private tour we will pick up them from their accommodations.
The departure point in Kotor is from the ECO petrol gas station next to the main bus station. The departure point in Budva is from the ECO petrol gas station next to the hotel Slovenska Plaža The departure point in Podgorica is from the PETROL gas station next to the main bus station.
NOTE:MH Travel Agency is the only one that organizesDurmitor National Tour via Morača River Canyon departures from Kotor, but guests should be aware that a tour can last up to 15 hours. Because of that, it is not recommended for small kids.
WHERE WE WILL GO?
We will go to Moračica Bridge, Morača Canyon, Crna Poda Virgin Forest, Tara Canyon, Tara Bridge (Đurđevića Tara Bridge), Ski Center Savin Kuk, and the Black Lake in Durmitor National Park.
MORAČICA BRIDGE
As soon as we leave Podgorica, the canyon of the Morača River begins on the 5th kilometer. The first attraction that you will see is the brand new Moračica Bridge. The bridge was built for the needs of the Podgorica-Kolašin highway, with a total length of 960 meters and with the longest span of 190 meters, which makes it the highest bridge in Montenegro and one of the highest in the Balkans. We will take a photo stop here and at 2 more places in the canyon. The canyon is on the right side of the road which makes guests can watch it and take photos during the ride.
MORAČA CANYON (maximum depth of 1000 meters)
Right before the longest tunnel in the canyon of river Morača, in the part named Platije, we will make another photo stop and then we will ride up to the top of the canyon at a height of 1060 meters above sea level. During the road, the view of Mountains Morača named "Kapa Moračka" is breathtaking. When we come to the top, we will take a small break in a village called Crkvine.
VIRGIN FOREST CRNA PODA
After the break, we will continue our way to the bridge over the river Tara. First, we will pass the town of Kolašin, then the town of Mojkovac, and after that, we will enter the canyon of the river Tara, bordered by "black pines" that literally grow out of the cliffs and be high up to 50 meters. Right at a place called virgin forest "Crna Poda", guests can see the beginning of the canyon Tara, where we will make a photo stop.
TARA CANYON (maximum depth of 1300 meters)
To be able to reach the Tara Bridge we need to continue our journey for the next 30 minutes. We will see several campsites located by the road from which rafting starts on the Tara River, we will see a few small waterfalls, and we will pass 10 small tunnels enjoying the view of the turquoise blue river, rocky cliffs, and nature-rich in greenery. And then suddenly, after the last curve, the most wanted bridge in Montenegro will appear in front of us.
TARA BRIDGE (ĐURĐEVIĆA TARA BRIDGE)
Spectacular Tara Bridge or Djurdjevica Tara Bridge was made without using any mechanization less than a hundred years ago. This hand-made bridge has a total length of 365 meters and its height is 172 meters. We will take a break for one hour, which is enough time for guests who want to take the zip line by the bridge or spend time sightseeing. Sometimes at the peak of the summer season, guests need to wait in line at the zip line start point. It could cause a little delay in our itinerary to Durmitor, but not more than 30 minutes.
SKI CENTER SAVIN KUK
After visiting the bridge, we will go towards the Durmitor mountain massif to the ski center Savin Kuk, which is located on one of the highest peaks in the Durmitor range. Guests who want to see the unreal view of Durmitor peaks and valleys can take the ski lift and after 20 minutes of the ride, they will be at 2313 meters altitude. After a few minutes of hiking to the edge, they will be able to enjoy the spectacular waves of glaciers, rocks, forests, and blue sky.
The snow might be here up to the mid of July, so a jacket and waterproof shoes are recommended. The full visit of Savin Kuk by ski lift (up and down, with photo-stops) lasts 90 minutes. In the case of strong wind, the ski lift is not open for visitors. Guests who don't want to take the ski lift will be transported to Black Lake. The distance is only 5 kilometers. Guests who want to stay on Savin Kuk will be transported to the Black Lake 90 minutes later, and they will have 1 hour to visit the Lake. The full time for visiting the Lake on our tour is 3 hours.
NOTE: The ski lift may be closed to visitors due to bad weather conditions (wind or rain). In that case, we skip the visit to Savina Kuk and go to Black Lake.
BLACK LAKE IN DURMITOR NATIONAL PARK
Black Lake or Crno Jezero. is located very close to the mountain town of Zabljak, where we will take a break for up to 3 hours. Everyone will have time for what they want. Those who want to eat can take lunch in the traditional restaurant by the lake. Guests who want to hike will make a circle around the lake of 4.5 km which lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. Those who like water activities can rent boats or swim. Whatever you decide to do, just simply enjoy the clean air and untouched nature.
At six o'clock in the afternoon, we will start returning slowly using another route, through the plateau of Durmitor and villages Pošćenje and Šavnik. In the summer, when the daylight lasts until the early evening, the guest will be able to see an attractive Krupac Lake close to the city of Nikišić. The sunsets will make nature calm and we will go back home via a fast road from Niksic to Podgorica and then back to Budva and Kotor.
TOUR CONDITIONS
The tour is organized by middle-class air-conditioned cars or minibusses. The price of the private tour is per car, not per person. The maximum number of guests in the car is 4. The private tour from Podgorica costs 200 euros, from Budva costs 220 euros, and from Kotor is 240 euros. Private tours can depart any day.

INTRODUCTION MH Travel Agency (hereinafter called 'the Agency'), guarantees the authenticity of the displayed visual and written data related to the accommodation unit characteristics in its offer available at www.montenegrohostel.com as well as the authenticity of the conditions of the same offer. By taking one or more offers of the Agency the client enters a legal relationship with MH Travel and confirms that he/she accepts the General Terms And Conditions of Accommodation Reservation Service (hereinafter called 'General Conditions'), which are presented here. All the details stated in the offer represent the legal obligation of the client as well as MH Travel. The General Conditions represent the basis for the settlement of any possible dispute that may arise between the client and MH Travel. The client is advised to read the General Conditions carefully prior to any advance payment.
1. BOOKING AND PAYMENT
Purchasing tickets for tours is possible electronically by completing the online form on our site. Reservations are only possible by paying the entire amount on our website before departure. After we receive the entire amount we will send you the confirmation of reservation and the voucher that consists of the details of the relevant arrangements (details of the host, guest details, date of arrival and departure, and also other services that the guest has paid). The payment can be made by credit card (Visa, Master...), (the agency bears the bank charges). By making the payment of the reservation the client certifies that he/she is completely familiarized with all the details and conditions under which the reservation of the accommodation service is provided. By making the payment all the conditions and terms specified in this contract become a legal obligation for both the client and the Agency.
2. CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY CLIENT
The client is entitled to a change of a confirmed reservation only if the change is accepted by the service provider. The changes may include booked transfer, tour, excursion or activity, number of persons, their age, and type of basic or extra services booked. The request for a change of the reservation must be submitted in a written form by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
If the client wants to cancel the reservation, the client must submit the request in written form by e-mail.
Online purchased tour tickets are possible to cancel free of charge up to 7 days before departure, only in the case that the transfer is still not confirmed and the money funds are only authorized, not fully charged.
If the minimum group is reached after the booking, when the customer automatically gets the online ticket and the ticket is fully charged, then the cancelation is not 100% free of charge. The cancelation fee costs 10% of the card ticket and 90% of the ticket amount will return to the customer's card. This cancelation is possible to do any time from the moment of booking up to 7 days before departure.
For a cancellation occurring from 7 to 0 days before the start of using the reserved service, MH Travel charges 100% of the total price of the tour ticket booked.
3. AGENCY’S OBLIGATIONS
MH Travel is responsible for the execution of services and selection of the service providers. and concerns about the rights and interests of the client in accordance with good practices in tourism. MH Travel is responsible for assure that the client receives all the services he/she has booked and is therefore liable to the client for a possible non-provision of the services or a part of the services the client paid for. MH Travel is not responsible if the non-provision of the service is due to a case of force majeure in the client's country or in the country where the service is to be provided (war, riots, strikes, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, official authority interventions, etc.). MH Travel has the right to cancel the transfer in the very case of unpredictable situations, which cannot be controlled by an agency (earthquakes, floods, closing borders, etc). In that case, we will refund the full amount of the tour tickets to the guests.
Durmitor National Park with Canyons tour has to have a minimum number of passengers (10 in total) to be organized. The agency charges booking amounts for transfers, tours, and activities ONLY after the minimum number of passengers is reached and the transfer, tour, or activity is confirmed by e-mail. Agency has the right to cancel transfer, tour, and activity up to 720 minutes (12 hours) before departure if the minimum of participants is not reached.
This cancellation is free of charge.
4. CLIENT’S OBLIGATIONS The clients are under obligation to possess valid travel documents. The costs of loss of these documents are borne by the client. The client needs to check whether he/she needs a visa to enter the Republic of Montenegro or transit countries. MH Travel cannot provide the service of obtaining a visa for the client and reserves the right to keep the amount paid for the transfer if the client could not enter the Republic of Montenegro because the necessary documents were not obtained by the client. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. of all the relevant facts that can affect the client's presence at the reserved transfer, tour, excursion, or activity (e.g. allergies and illness of the client, physical disability of the client, coming by vehicle, special diet conditions, and extra luggage).
5. TRAVEL INSURANCE The cost of the trip does not include the travel insurance 'package': insurance against accidents and illnesses that may occur during the trip, damage or loss of luggage, or voluntary health insurance. When confirming the reservation online, the Traveler has to accept these General Terms and Conditions by selecting a payment method and completing the reservation confirmation process. The same applies to reservations confirmed and completed via e-mail. Should the Traveler request additional insurance, arrangements can be made directly with the insurance company or at MH Travel itself wherein the Agency acts only as a mediator.
6. COMPLAINS The client reserves the right to complain in case of any incorrect photographs and information published on the site. The client is not entitled to complain about any other grounds, including bad weather conditions, traffic jams, or any other similar situation or event that may cause the client's dissatisfaction and is not in relation to the quality of the reserved transfer service. Any justified complaint about deficiencies will be resolved on the spot. If the service provider is not able to resolve the reported deficiencies, and MH Travel cannot propose any alternative tour, the client will get a full refund of the amount paid.
7. ARBITRATION If the guest is not satisfied with the solution offered by the agency he/she has a right to take the issue to the court jurisdiction of Podgorica.
8. NOTICE By making the advance payment or paying the entire arrangement amount the guest accepts these general terms and conditions.
