ABOUT KOTOR BOKA BAY TOUR
MH Travel Agency is the only agency in Montenegro that organizes Boka Bay Tour in this unique way, which is why we suggest it to all our guests staying in Kotor and Budva. This tour is a fantastic blend of five cities on the Montenegrin coast. Boka Bay is the only Fjord-like bay on Mediterranean and its formed of four smaller bays: Bay of Kotor, Bay of Risan, Bay of Herceg Novi and Bay of Tivat. Our guests on this tour will see all four bays as well as the city of Budva which is only 25km from Kotor and is Montenegro number one touristic destination.
This tour will leave you breathless. With an easy driving schedule with many breaks this tour is a great option for all generations. We hope that the video, tour description and the itinerary will be enough for you to reserve your seat on time.
The tour starts in Budva where we will pick up our guests in front of the old town and then continue to Kotor. In Kotor we will do a city tour which consists of the main attractions of the old town of Kotor which is under UNESCO protection: Square of Arms, Bizanti Palace, Beskuca Palace, Pima Palace, St Tryphon Cathedral, Maritime Museum, St Nicholas Church, Blessed Osanna Church as well as the north gate.
After the city tour our guests will have enough time to climb the fortress and take some amazing panoramic photos. If you want to skip the climb you can additionally explore the town, buy souvenirs or simply enjoy the Old Town of Kotor.
IMPORTANT: Guests that stay in Kotor can join the city tour free of charge, it’s enough just to say (when you purchase the ticket) that you want to join the tour and the guide will inform you where the starting point is or add the guided city tour in your on-line booking (you will be asked about that in the booking form).
After our visit to Kotor we will continue to Perast, throughout history one of the most important towns in Boka Bay. Perast is a part of Kotor Municipality and is under UNESCO protection as well. It’s main attraction two small islets St George and Our Lady of the Rocks make Perast well-known in touristic world. On each of the islets there is a church. Church on St George islet is closed for public except during some rare events, while Our Lady of the Rocks islet and church can be visited. You can take a boat to the island and the interior of the church will be presented by a professional guide.
Then we will walk down the main street , which is the only one in Perast where you will see St Nicholas church with its belfry, town square, Maritime Museum, as well as many traditional palaces and churches built as early as in 16th century which still kept their authentic looks.
Our next destination will be Herceg Novi, town with most sunny days throughout the year in Montenegro. To reach Herceg Novi we will pass through town of Risan and Risan Bay but without stops. Herceg Novi has a beautiful old town completely authentic and different than Kotor and Budva old town.
It was founded in 1382 by King Tvrtko of Bosnia who grated wide privileges in his intention to turn it into a trading port, which would rid Bosnia of its dependence on the Dubrovnik merchants who controlled almost all of the Bosnian trade. This brought an economic standoff between the two in which the reasons of trade prevailed so that king had to abandon his project. The town was originally known as Sveti Stjepan (St. Stevan) after the protector saint of the King’s dynasty, but was referred to by locals (and still is) simply as Novi, literary “New (Town)”.
We will visit the old town as well as the town fort and make a lunch break. Guests who don’t want to take lunch can walk along the longest promenade on Montenegrin coast named ‘5 Danica’ which connects Herceg Novi and Igalo.
After Herceg Novi we head back to the ferry, then cross the bay and continue to Tivat. This is the only town on Montenegrin coast that doesn’t have an old town, but in Tivat is located the most luxurious marina for yachts and mega yachts on the Adriatic Sea named Porto Montenegro. The works started ten years ago and will be completely finished in next five years. To this day there are many touristic buildings, apartments, as well as luxurious Regent hotel built in marina. Maritime Museum with submarines can be found in the marina. Many luxury shops to buy clothes and jewelry can be found, while bar and restaurants service prices are acceptable and not too expensive.
Leaving Porto Montenegro we will continue to our last destination, which is Budva. Our guests from Budva can finish the tour there as the have already seen the town, or can continue the tour around Budva with our professional guide completely free and learn about its history in more detail.
Old town of Budva is smaller than Kotor Old Town, and was founded as Kotor 2500 years ago. It’s the only old town on our coast with a beach just next to the city walls which is why it became a center of touristic interest decades ago. In front of the old town there is the town square, two beaches to the south and west side, St John’s Cathedral, Archeological Museum and Citadel with a beautiful viewpoint. The town has a special atmosphere which is always a little glamorous. Budva is the fastest developing town on the coast, with a special blend of modern and traditional tourism. It is also the center of fun and great nightlife.
After we finish touring Budva we will take back our guests from Kotor back.
