ABOUT MONTENEGRO TOUR
Montenegro Tour is shorter than Big Montenegro Tour and is a "homework" for every guest that wants to see the most important Montenegrin attractions only 80km away from Budva and Kotor. This is an easy and pleasant tour with lots of stops, driving no longer than one hour at a time and we recommend it especially to our senior guests. Sea, mountains, lake, sea again, all in one magnificent day which is why we suggest it as a part of your trip.
Our Tour starts at 8am from Budva next to the old town, after which we will continue to the old town of Kotor from where we will gather the rest of our passengers.
The first destination is National Park Lovcen to which we will take the old road built during the Austro-Hungarian era and which consists out of 25 serpentines. During this whole journey you can see the beautiful Boka Bay. On the last, 25th serpentine we will make a photo stop, after which we will continue to the Lake Peak (1650m altitude) where we will stop to visit the Mausoleum of the most important leader and writer of Montenegro, Petar II Petrovic Njegos.
There we will make a break for breakfast and visit the Mausoleum. From the restaurant parking to the top where the Mausoleum is there are 460 steps. The Mausoleum visit and breakfast are not mandatory, so the passengers can use this break to visit the National Park and to enjoy the nature if they want.
After the visit of the Mausoleum a 20km ride through the National Park to the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro expects us. Cetinje is historically the most important city for Montenegro. Few of the most important buildings are located in the center of the city: Cetinje Monastery, Biljarda (residence of Petar II Petrovic Njegos), King Nikola’s Palace, National and Ethnographic museums, Blue Palace which is today the residence of the president of Montenegro and many Embassies from King Nikola’s era. Cetinje is not a big city but its historical core and people living there have a special kind of charm and make a very pleasant atmosphere for every visitor.
The next stop will be River Crnojevic whose delta builds a natural attraction of Skadar Lake, which is the largest lake on Balkans and one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Europe. Skadar Lake was declared a National Park in 1983. On our tour we will visit a small, but very attractive place River Crnojevic where you can see the beautiful Danilo’s bridge from 1853. Next to the bridge there is a house named Mostina built also by King Danilo.
Here we will make a break for lunch up to 90 minutes. Guests that don’t want to have lunch can rent a small boat and take a ride across the river which lasts about one hour.
After lunch break on River Crnojevic we will head back to St. Stefan taking the main road.
Our final stop is St.Stefan.The panoramic view of Sveti Stefan is surely one of the most memorable sights along Montenegro’s coast, photographed so many times that it is almost impossible to imagine a promotional brochure or video without its enchanting look. This miniature island is dotted with stone houses and joined with the mainland by narrow sand isthmus which the sea currents have built during the ages. It is an exclusive tourist resort visited by rich and famous with each house serving as a separate luxurious apartment.
First mention of the island is in 15th century as a fort but was later populated by 400 people. After WWII the inhabitants left the island and built houses on the other side, on the coast, while their houses on the island were transformed into an exclusive hotel where many celebrities from all around the world have stayed. Even today St Stefan is an exclusive resort for the rich and famous, and is most of the time closed for the public.
It is not possible to visit the island, but we will enjoy a walk through Milocer Park, which used to belong to the Royal Family, situated next to St Stefan island. After visiting St Stefan we will head back to Budva and Kotor.
