Republic of Montenegro is just 50 km far away from city of Dubrovnik. A lot of guests from all over the world know about astonishingly beauty of city of Dubrovnik, and want to visit it, but a lot of them don't know anything about Montenegro, or just a few basic things. Montenegro is one of the most beautiful countries on Balkans, and one of the most beautiful countries in Europe at all. Geographical, Montenegro is pure drama. In one day you are able to see the only fjord in Mediterranean See named Boka Bay, famous city of Kotor ( UNESCO), National park Lovcen with amazing view on whole Boka Bay and almost on the whole country, Royal capital city of Cetinje, the biggest lake on Balkans named Skadar Lake, the pearl of Montenegro amazing island St. Stefan and city of Budva-the most touristic place on Montenegrin coast.


All travel agencies from Dubrovnik offers excursion to Montenegro, but none of them doesn't offer such a great itinerary like Montenegro Hostel Travel Agency. Our excursion from Dubrovnik to Montenegro costs 55 euros per person and worth every euro. Take a look at itinerary and see for yourself.




We start from Dubrovnik at 8 am. Usually we pick up the guests from the hotels reception or from the accommodation proprety where the guests are accommodated. 

Start from Dubrovnik at 08:00

After we pass border crossing and enter in Montenegro we will go around the famous Boka Bay. Boka Bay is the deepest natural fjord-like bay in the  Mediterranean See and conisits 4 bays: Bay of Hreceg Novi, Bay or Risan, Bay of Kotor and Bay of Tivat. On our way to Kotor we will stop to world-known city of Perast with stunning islands: Island of St. George and island Our Lady of the Rock.

We will make photo stop in Perast and go to city of Kotor. From Prast to Kotor is only 10 km of distance.

Old Town of Kotor is the most famous town on the Montenegrin coast, which is listed with UNESCO World heritage sites. The scenery around old town of Kotor ( including the steep mountains which come almost straight down to the water edge) is spectacular. We will spend one hour visiting the old town and thereafter we will go towards Lovćen National Park.

We will use old famous road built by Austria-Hungary (1879-1884).This road still serves as the only connection between Kotor and Cetinje. It climbs up with 25 serpentines, looming above the other, each with wiev a little better than the last. The road is fascinating experience and we will make minimum one photo stop on our way to Mausoleum located on Lake Peak 1650 meters high.

Lake Peak is the second highest mountain in National park Lovcen. Mausoleum introduces secession architecture, designed by the greatest Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovich. Mausoleum is entirely carved from the granite and marble stone, and contains beautiful view point from where you can see almost half of the country. Petar II Petrović Njegoš was a Montenegrin ruler and metropolitan bishop, a renowned state reformer and enlightener, a philosopher and was also the greatest Montenegrin writer ever. The Petrovich Njegosh Dynasty was the last ruling dynasty in Montenegro. Petar II also contributed greatly to the tradition of prominent poets that have called Montenegro their home. If you want to visit Mausoleum inside and famous view-point, be prepared for climb 460 stairs. After visiting Mausoleum we will go to the royal capital city of Cetinje.

Cetinje is proud of its rich cultural heritage and surrounded by traditional authentic villages with a divers animal and plant world, whose peaks reach up to 1,748 m above sea level.It scent with the architecture from 18th and 19th century that comes from rich greenery of this small city. Cetinje is the capital of Montenegro and Crnogorsko - primorska Mitropolija. During King Nikola’s reign many embassies were built that gives its today's specific look. Two of the most representative buildings are the Monasteries of Cetinje and Biljarda. Cetinje Monastery was built in 1701 and even though the Turks destroyed it several times, the people built it up again. Relics of St. Petar of Cetinje, one of the illustrious patrons of Montenegrin history, are kept there. Cetinje Monastery represents the spiritual and political center of Montenegrin people. 

When the capital of Zeta fell under the Turks in 1499, Cetinje sprang up as the region’s new capital, a symbol for all of Montenegro and the Balkan states of freedom, independence.Times were never easy for Cetinje, who suffered a string of attacks and trials over the centuries. However, the local population weathered the storm well and developed a sense of how to live life to its fullest.

Many travelers today will find an abundance of good food and even more impressive architectural structures in Cetinje, including a number of international embassies from the UK, France, Russia, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, and all points in between. After visiting Cetinje we will go to capital of Montenegro named Podgorica.

We will not enetr to the city ceter of Podgorica. We will pass by the city and go towards Skadar Lake. Lake Skadar is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Located between Albania and Montenegro, Lake Skadar has an area of 362 km2; from which 213 km2 belongs to Montengro.The lake is one of the largest European bird reserves. Lake Skadar was declared national park in 1983 and was included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance in 1996.

After photo-stop on Skadar Lake we will continue to famous St. Stefn Island. St. Stefan was a fishing village founded in 15th century. 1960 the village was converted into old town, with its tower, narrow streets, shops and churches, remained unchanged. St. Stefan ( Sveti Stefan) is an unusual and unique place not only at Montenegro or Budva's Riviera but in the whole Mediterranean. It stands on the cliff of a rocky island with roofs red like rubies. A sand isthmus looking like a stem connects it with the land. It came into existence in unique way.

St. Stefan is hotel resort now and entrance to the island is limited by visitors.We will make photo-stop on St. Stefan and go straight to city of Budva. 

Arrival to Budva at 18:00...Visiting Budva sightseeing 1 hour

Budva is the metropolis of Montenegrin tourisn thanks to the great number of beaches and hotels that make this a most desirable tourist destination. Apart from its natural beauty, its bay islands and beaches, Budva is rich in historic monuments. Old town of Budva is located in a small peninsula and represents a treasure chest of culture heritage. With its excellent sandy beaches, multitude of hotels and scenic walled old town Budva, including the surrounding area, it is the single most important summer resort in Montenegro. During the beginning and the end of the season Budva is very pleasant place, but in very high season is pretty crowded. The legend holds that was founded by the Theban king Cadmus while the written sources tell us about the Greek colony Buthoa already in 4th c. BC.

Departure from Budva at 19:00

After visiting Budva we will go back to Dubovnik. On our way back we will not make any photo stop.

Arrival to Dubrovnik at 21:00...in very high season we will arrive up to 22:00



Montenegro Tour from Dubrovnik is organized in groups. Minimum group is 4 persons. Entrance fees, breakfast and lunch are not included in price.

In total all tickets, breakfast, lunch and snack will cost you around 20-30 euros. But if you want you can use your own food and drink.

MONTENEGRO HOSTEL TRAVEL AGENCY ORGANIZES one day excursion from city of Budva and kotor to city of dubrovnik. Excursion lasts 12 hours and costs only 35 euros per person!

this is a great option for anyone who wants to save its budget.


Montenegro Hostel Travel-Dubrovnik Old Town Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful cities on the World and extremely visited by tourists all year long. Thanks to geographical position, Dubrovnik is only 100 km far away from city of Kotor and 125 km far away from city of Budva. Kotor and Budva are the most touristic places in Montenegro. Almost every guest who cames to Montenegro want to visit Dubrovnik.


Mostly guests want to stay in Dubrovnik for day, two or more. But if you don't have enough time to stay in Dubrovnik, we suggest you to take our excurison.

If you decide to stay in Montenegro and take daily excursion to Dubrovnik renting the car, take care about price of car parking in Dubrovnik. One hour of the car parking in the zone around the city walls costs 6 euros. You need optimally 5 hours to visit the town, that means that car parking will costs you 30 euros. Also, you may wait pretty long at the border crrosing in very high season.


So, if you don't want to think about renting the car, driving to Dubrovnik, finding the car parking, and driving back on time, take our excursion. Our excursion is very flexible, because minimum group is only 4 guests.




This excursion is possible for the guests who stay in: St. Stefan, city of Budva includes Bećići, city of Tivat, city of Kotor, city of Perast and city of Herceg Novi. We can pick up the guests for all those places, but we will make basic itinerary for guests from Budva and Kotor. If you stay somewhere else, just send us e-mail and we will organize pick up without any problem.

Montenegro Hostel Travel-Dubrovnik Old Town And Island Lokrum

We will pass by city of Perast where we will make photo stop, and then we will continue to the border crossing. We will pass border crossing Debeli Brijeg-Karasovići every day in the year except July and August. We don't want to spend more than 30 minutes waiting on border crossing, which is almost impossible in very high season on Debeli Brijeg-Karasovići. As the acceptable soulution we will use another border crossing on peninsula Prevlaka, and go straight via National Park of Prevlaka to Dubrovnik.

We will drop guests in front of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. We suggest guests to go first to visit famous city walls of Dubrovnik.

Entrance fee is 15 euros per person. Entrance to the city walls are left of the main entrance on Stradun ( famous main street in the old town of Dubrovnik).

With all photo stops you need approximately 2 hours to go around of the city walls. You don't need any tour guide for that.

After visiting city walls our recommendation is to take city tour, which costs 40-50 euros per group ( for the group of 4 it will be around 10 euros per person).

Only tour guides with the licence of tourist organization from Dubrovnik can make guided tour. They are fantastic and they will give you all necessary explanation of every important and historical place in the old town of Dubrovnik.

If you want to take tour guide you can do that in the office of tourist info right of the main entrance on Stradun. Just go there, ask for the tour guide, and you will get one of them in couple of minutes. Guided tour lasts around 1 hour.

After that you can relax yourself having a coffee or a lunch, but take care about price list. In some restaurants in the old town of Dubrovnik prices are pretty high, but couple of restaurants in the port of the Old Town have decent prices (around 15-20 euros per meal).

If you really want to eat cheaper, you should look at the restaurants in the streets further from Stradun or main squares.

For the last two hours you can visit some of the numerous churces in the old town, or Museum, or make a shopping.

Old Town of Dubrovnik has some great shops with very interesting souvenirs.

There are no beaches around the old town of Dubrovnik, so you cannot chill out but you can take the boat tour to Lokrum island ( this island is very close to the Old Town of Dubrovnik). That boat tour lasts around 45 minutes and costs 10 euros.

Departure from Dubrovnik at 17:00 ( location in front of the Old Town)

Our driver will make the small circle by car around the city of Dubrovnik, so you will be able to see port of Gruz, bridge of Dr. Franjo Tuđman, and Lapad hill. After that we will go back to Montenegro. On our way back we will not make any photo stop.

m Saranda2Direct transfer from Montenegro to Saranda is a great option especially for the groups. We organize this transfer all year long.

There are no public bus from Saranda to Montenegro. If you want to go from Saranda to any city in Montenegro, you need to take bus from Saranda to Tirana, and then take transfer from Tirana to Montenegro. For all that route you need to swithch several buses, and spend almost whole day on the road. This route is "nightmare" for every traveler who want to get from Saranda to Montenegro in one day.

Montenegro Hostel Travel Agency is the only one in Montenegro that organizes direct transfer from Kotor and Budva to Saranda and back from Saranda to Montenegro.

This is the quickest way to get to Greece from Montenegro. Saranda is one of the most popular tourist places in Albania. One of the reasons that Saranda is such popular summer tourist destination is because it is so convenient to visit from Greece and Italy. During summer season there are hydrofoil ferries that travel twice a day between Corfu (Greek: Kerkyra) and Saranda.

After we enter in Albania and pass Shkoder we will go to the second largest city in Albania named Duress where is the biggest port in Albania and ferry connection to city of Bari in Italy. Our route will continue toward to city of Lushnje where is bus connection to famous city of Berat (UNESCO). The distance from Lushnje to Berat is only 40 km.

On our way to Saranda we will pass city of Vlora where is a ferry that runs back and forth to city of Brindisi in Italy and takes about 7 hours each way. The distance between Albania and the heel of Italy's boot across the Strait of Otronto is 72 kilometers (45 nautical miles).

The route from Vlora to Saranda is very atractive and its called Albanian Riviera.

All the passengers who want travel to following Albanian towns: Shkoder, Duress, Lushnje, Vlora and Saranda can take this transfer.

NOTE: We don not pass Tirana, and we do not enter in the city of Tirana.



m Saranda4Bus ticket from Kotor and Budva ( Montenegro) to Saranda ( Albania) costs 70 euros. We can organize the transfer if the minimum number of passengers is 8.

Duration time is 12 hours by bus. 

Passengers who want take this transfer to other cities (not to Saranda) can check the price list:

Bus ticket from Kotor or Budva to Duress costs 40 euros.

Bus ticket from Kotor or Budva to Lushnje costs 50 euros.

Bus ticket from Kotor or Budva to Vlora costs 60 euros.

NOTE: We do not enter in the city centre of: Shkoder, Duress, Lushnje and Vlora. 

Departure time is 9 am from Kotor and 9.30 from Budva. Departure points are main gate of the Old Town of Kotor and main gate of the Old Town of Budva.

Arrival time in 9 pm ( 21:00) in Saranda. We arrive at the port in Saranda and in the city center.

Transfer is organized by air-conditioned buses. Luggage fee is included in the price.

Transfer tickets can be bought at the receptions of the Montenegro Hostel Kotor, and Montenegro Hostel Budva.

NOTE: We can be flexible with the departure time and departure point for the group request.

Durration time is 12 hours by bus.

Departure time is at 9 am from Saranda. Departure point is from the port in Saranda or from the city center.

Transfer is organized by air-conditioned buses. Luggage fee is included in the price.

PLEASE NOTE: Ticket for transfer from Saranda to Kotor and Budva can be reserved or purchased in two ways:

1. If you are guest of any of Montenegro Hostels, and if you have reservation, you can pay your transfer ticket on the receptions of Montenegro Hostels (Kotor, Budva and Podgorica) after transfer, when you arrive in hostel.


2. If you are not guest of any of Montenegro Hostels, you can purchase your transfer ticket in advance by credit card. You should make contact sending e-mail to montenegrohostel@gmail.com

NOTE: We can organize transfer from Saranda to Podgorica for the same price.
